Fraunhofer IMS develops smart sensor systems for the design of sustainable and circular industrial production processes. The systems provide pre-processed information and are easy to retrofit and low-maintenance. Particular attention is paid to the sensor-related implementation of machine learning (ML) methods. The models used are based on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) in order to make the functionality and the results achieved as comprehensible as possible for the user. This results in solutions in the application areas of Industry 4.0, predictive maintenance, green information and communication technology and circular production.
